A long couple weeks...

The flu decided to pay a visit to Fiona and I over the last couple weeks, and to be completely honest, it was miserable.  I don't know if it was the particular strand (H1N1) or what, but never again will I thumb my nose when Fiona's pediatrician recommends a flu shot.  In fact, I might even get her one...and myself while I'm at it.

On the bright side, I got it first.  And rather than sitting around most of January waiting to have a baby, I got to be thoroughly impressed with Fiona's ability to entertain herself--thus making me much less nervous about how she'll cope with not having my attention 24/7 once the newbie arrives.

See?

Sadly, Fiona got sick too.  I seriously didn't know it was possible for a kid to get sick and have a fever over 104 for EIGHT days.  Seriously?!  Between that, her ever-runny nose and inability to sleep because of her terrible cough, I've never been sadder for her.  Again, on the bright side, it came and went before the new baby, so I got to devote 100% of my time to babying my first baby for what may very well be the last time.  :(

And she really was a trooper.

After spending over a week and a half indoors and quarantined, Dallas decided to have real winter.  In all the years I've lived here, I've never seen anything like it.  Schools were closed for 4 days straight and roads were sheets of ice for days on end.  So ironically enough, we were still stuck at home.

But we could do this:

And thankfully the next afternoon most of the snow (and ice) melted, and now life is almost back to normal...even if it is unseasonably cold for Dallas.

Come on baby!
